Working Towards Perfection

So many times, we use this phrase wrongly and under the guise of allowing our sinful nature to thrive. We say things like, "I am not perfect," "Everybody makes mistakes", "We all are working towards perfection" and each time we say things like these, it is in a bid to justify our errors.

Our working towards perfection as Christians is not from a place of us being a sinner looking for justification for the sin committed and so, we should not use the phrase, "working towards perfection" anytime we make mistakes and need something to hinge on so that we can feel good in our sin.

As Christians, our work towards perfection is nurturing the life of Christ that we already have in us to growth and maturity. We should refer to ourselves as perfect, holy, righteous, one without sin, blameless and upright because Romans 5: 1 made us realize that we have inherited the righteousness of Christ through our faith in Him.

We are made perfect not by our works but by the translational grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Once we give our lives to Christ, it is not us who live anymore but Christ living in us and the Bible says, "He who is of God does not sin".

Consciously and intentionally, we should remind ourselves of Mark 9:23 that all things are possible to those who believe so. It is possible for us to not commit sin, fall into error or stain our garment because we now know God and the power of His resurrection, we've shared the fellowship of His suffering and so dead to sin and alive to righteousness.

Let us thrive for perfection, believe that we've obtain it through Christ Jesus and keep striving to be perfectly perfect because there is no condemnation against us once we give our lives to Christ. The law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made a free from the law of sin and death.

We should not allow the devil to guilt trip us to believing that we are not worthy to be called perfect, holy, righteous, and blameless. When we run into errors, we should seek God for mercy and believe that we have received it.

We should always declare;

"I am perfect

I am holy

I am righteous

I am without blemish

I don't have the capacity to sin

I have the life of Christ, Zoe

I am made righteous by Christ's translational grace and my faith in Him

My sinful nature is my past.

I work and walk in perfection."
